Safety and Runtime Safeguards

Overview

LightForce incorporates embedded safeguards that monitor system inputs, outputs, and internal state to maintain operational integrity during runtime.

Input Validation

Incoming command signals are validated for range, plausibility, and continuity before being accepted into control loops.

Output Bounding

Actuator commands are constrained by configurable limits to prevent mechanical or operational overextension.

Health Monitoring

Internal watchdogs and signal health checks continuously verify:

  • Sensor validity
  • Communication link status
  • Processing integrity
  • Inter-node synchronization

Fault Detection and Handling

Upon detecting anomalies, LightForce executes predefined mitigation strategies, which may include:

  • Authority reassignment
  • Transition to degraded mode
  • Isolation of faulty subsystems
  • Redundant node activation

Deterministic Fault Response

All runtime safeguards operate within defined timing boundaries, ensuring that protective actions do not introduce uncontrolled or undefined behavior.
