Operating Modes

Overview

Operating Modes define the behavioral states under which LightForce executes control logic and manages command authority. Mode transitions are deterministic and governed by defined entry and exit conditions.

Representative Modes

Mode Description
Initialization Mode System performs hardware checks, sensor validation, and internal state alignment before enabling control authority.
Manual Mode Control commands are directly derived from human inputs, with embedded safeguards and boundary enforcement.
Assisted Mode Human inputs are augmented by stabilization, envelope protection, or constraint enforcement.
Advanced control modes (e.g. autonomous mode, supervisory mode, safeguarded mode, etc.) are supported but dependent on the control architecture implemented. See Control Architectures for more information.

Mode Transition Management

Mode changes are subject to validation checks to prevent unsafe or undefined state transitions. Authority arbitration and signal health are evaluated before transitions are committed.
