Command & Authority Model
Overview
The Command and Authority Model defines how control inputs are prioritized, validated, and executed within LightForce, particularly in systems involving multiple command sources.
Authority Sources
LightForce may receive commands from:
- Local physical inputs
- Remote RF or network interfaces
- Supervisory computing systems
- Peer LightForce nodes
Arbitration Logic
When multiple command sources are present, LightForce applies a configurable arbitration hierarchy. Authority precedence, override rules, and fallback behaviors are explicitly defined to prevent ambiguity.
Authority Transfer
Authority may transition between sources based on:
- Mode selection
- Operator request
- Communication link status
- Fault conditions
Transfers are executed deterministically, ensuring no undefined control intervals occur.
Link Loss and Fallback Behavior
If a supervisory or remote command source is lost, LightForce transitions according to predefined fallback logic, which may include:
- Holding last valid command
- Reverting to local control
- Entering safeguarded mode
