Operational Philosophy
Overview
LightForce is designed as a deterministic real-time control authority that operates at the core of a robotic or vehicle system. Its architecture separates time-critical control execution from supervisory logic, ensuring stable and predictable behavior under both nominal and degraded conditions.
Deterministic Control Execution
All actuator commands and state estimation processes execute within bounded timing constraints. This deterministic model ensures repeatable system behavior independent of supervisory workload or network latency.
Layered Responsibility
Operational responsibility is intentionally layered:
- Execution Layer – Real-time control, stabilization, and signal conditioning
- Supervisory Layer – Mode management, mission logic, and operator input
- Coordination Layer (optional) – Multi-node synchronization and distributed authority
- This separation prevents non-deterministic processes from affecting critical control loops.
Modularity and Scalability
LightForce is designed to function as a single-node controller or as part of a distributed system. Its operational philosophy supports incremental scaling from simple manual systems to coordinated multi-node architectures.
Fail-Operational Bias
Where configured, LightForce prioritizes maintaining controlled behavior over abrupt disengagement, transitioning to defined degraded or safeguarded states when anomalies are detected.
